Instructions

      Open the task manager on your computer by selecting the "Ctrl + Alt + Del" keys simultaneously. Then choose the "Processes" menu button followed by the "Processes" menu tab.

      View the processes in the list and note the names of any that are using more than 20% of the computers process resources. If you do not recognize any of the process names, they could be viruses.

      Visit the Process Library website listed in the Resources section of this article and type the name of the processes identified in Step 2. This will identify what computer processes are malicious and associated with the computer virus on your computer. You can also download and run the process scan from the website to help identify any viruses.

      Right click each malicious process in Task Manager followed by left clicking the "End Process" menu option to stop the malicious process from running.

      Open Windows Explorer by selecting the "Windows + E" keys simultaneously. Then, right click your computer's local drive and left click the "Search" menu option.

      Enter the name of each malicious process discovered during the previous steps on a separate search followed by the enter key. When you find the suspect file on your computer, delete it.

      Open your registry editor by selecting the start menu and typing "command" in the search text box. Then, enter "regedit" at the DOS command prompt. Conduct a search of the registry by typing the name of the malicious file into the registry search field. Select and delete any registry entries made that are associated with the malicious files. The computer virus will now be removed from your computer.
